Once my oldest was old enough to understand, like maybe two, we could never leave the house without a snack, a drink, fifty seven batman action figures, three to five books, and a small backpack full of assorted junk from his toy box. And to him, walking twenty feet to the mailbox was leaving the house.
Which is okay now that he is a college student, because that means I know he always has his cell phone, his ID, his car keys, his ATM card and at least a couple bucks in his wallet.
