A boy during a historic moment

I wanted to take photos of Alex during the inauguration so I could say, “This is where you were when history happened.”

I had in mind a touching shot of him looking up at the President. I got him with Carter, Bush and Clinton ….

I got him choosing the Muppets over the President

and instead of the shot I was hoping for … I got this

Which … figures.

  5. Hey, my son has been crying/whimpering all day. So that is my memory of this historic event. I love real life.

That is awesome. I didn’t take photos of us with the TV because we were still in our jammies — the swearing in was at 8 am Alaska time. My daughter was a teeny bit late to school because we waited til the swearing in and Obama’s speech were over.

These are great photos because they are real. He will know he was there, and wow. Our kids will grow up (although I think my oldest kid, who’s 18, would argue he is grown up) in a world where really literally anyone can be president, instead of anyone who is male and white. Things changed today, and it’s a very good day.
