This is so cheesy, but makes me so freaking happy.
My Grandma was a champ of “stuff”. She is the comfy cozy Grandma. She had these plastic mesh and yarn things all over the house – and had us making them too. Everytime we went to see her, we could pick up where we left off.
The one(s) I made before were out of acrylic, but since I’m Miz Yarn Snob, I used part of my stash of cotton/bamboo.
Behold! The Tissue Box Cover!
I checked myself for fever, and I seem to be okay. If I start latch hooking a toilet lid cozy, send help!

Just for the record, I was the latch hook queen. But, seriously, that tissue box cover rocks. It’s quite attractive and makes me feel all homey as well.

i will only intervene when you start making the extra toilet paper doll covers. you know the ones… barbie (or her dollar store cousin) had a skirt (that was knit or crocheted out of the brightest/ugliest colors that could be found) and it flowed over the extra roll while her legs fit perfectly in the roll hole. IF you start making these then i’m going to schedule an intervention!

I remember my grandmother making these. Looks all spring-y.
I’m with Ivy, though, on the extra roll cover. Also, if you make a barn table setting out of this yarn/grid stuff — where the barn holds the salt and pepper and the pen holds the napkins. Intervention + alcohol. Just sayin’…

I’m suddenly having a latch-hook flashback. I wonder where my Raggedy Ann pillow is. That thing took me forever…
As for plastic canvas, I’ve got several “vintage” magnets I made & others made.
Yes, even though I avoid all yarn projects nowadays, I used to be a craft queen in my younger days.

I love it. But I have to agree with Ivy – if you start looking for the dollar store barbies for toilet paper dolls, I’m going to tie you up at BlogHer and whip you with acrylic yarn.

My grandmother used to make toilet paper roll covers in the shape of ballgown skirts, and added a plastic doll torso on the top. How ’bout whippin’ up one of those?

I think this is retro chic now! Seriously I just had a flashback to my 70s childhood of the shag-carpet toilet seat covers….

Teehee. These bring back memories! My grandma still does the same thing. Each Christmas we are bound to get something made out of mesh and yarn- tissue box covers, checkbook holders…

I don’t even know what latch hooking is, but it looks pretty. 🙂
